Promise by Blood

May 3, 2026

The promise of God has always been connected to blood sacrifice, beginning with the Passover in Exodus 12 where lamb's blood on doorposts protected Israelites from death. This Old Testament event pointed to Jesus, our ultimate Passover lamb, who shed His blood to secure our salvation. Through Christ's sacrifice, believers receive forgiveness, freedom from sin, and eternal relationship with God. To claim this promise, we must receive Jesus as Lord and believe in Him with heart-level commitment. For those already saved, the call is to daily deny self, take up the cross, and follow Jesus faithfully.

The transformation of Saul from Christianity's greatest persecutor to Paul the apostle demonstrates God's incredible power to turn around any life. Before his Damascus road encounter with Jesus, Saul was a zealous Pharisee who hunted down Christians and threw them in prison. After meeting the risen Christ, he became the greatest missionary in Christian history, planting churches and writing much of the New Testament. Paul's secret to transformation involved counting his past achievements as loss, forgetting what lies behind, and pressing forward toward God's purpose. The same power that transformed Saul is available today to transform any life, regardless of past failures or circumstances..

Ruth and Esther demonstrate how God uses ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. Ruth, a Moabite widow, chose to follow God and became part of Jesus' lineage through her faithfulness to her mother-in-law Naomi. Esther, an orphaned Jewish girl, became queen of Persia and saved her people from genocide. Both women showed remarkable character, courage, and commitment that God used to change history. Their stories remind us that regardless of our background or circumstances, God sees potential in us and can position us for such a time as this when we walk faithfully with Him.

Joseph's journey from favored son to slave to prisoner to Egypt's second-in-command reveals that our circumstances don't determine our promise or potential. Despite betrayal by his brothers, false accusations, and imprisonment, Joseph remained faithful to God and served others with integrity. His consistent character allowed God to position him to save Egypt and his own family during a severe famine. Joseph understood that God could use even the most difficult situations for good, telling his brothers that what they meant for evil, God meant for good to preserve many lives. Our faithfulness in current circumstances, no matter how challenging, prepares us for the greater purposes God has planned.

Forever Promise

In a world of temporary things, we must focus on what truly lasts forever. Three eternal realities define our forever promise in Christ: God Himself, who exists from everlasting to everlasting; His Word, which stands forever and brings life, peace, and protection; and people, whose souls are eternal. We connect to God's forever nature by drawing near to Him, embrace His Word through reading and meditation, and recognize that every person will spend eternity either with God or separated from Him. The path to eternal life is clear: receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and believe in Him with genuine faith. This forever promise transforms us completely and gives us an unbreakable connection to God's love.
