Shine the Light

June 7, 2026

Jesus declared Himself as the light of the world, offering to illuminate our lives and drive away spiritual darkness. As God incarnate, He brings life and understanding to those who receive Him. While many reject this light because it exposes sin and challenges comfortable darkness, those who believe become children of God through spiritual rebirth. Following Jesus means receiving Him as Lord, learning from Scripture, and putting His teachings into practice. When we truly follow Christ, we receive the light of life that pushes back darkness and grants eternal life. Christians are called to shine this light to others, becoming beacons that help people find their way to Jesus.

Our Mission as a Shirnking Church

June 14, 2026

The American church faces unprecedented challenges with 40 million Americans leaving church over the past 25 years, creating the Great De-Churching phenomenon. Only 24% of adults now attend church weekly, while 30% claim no religious affiliation. Despite aging congregations and declining attendance, the solution remains sharing the Gospel. The Samaritan woman's encounter with Jesus in John 4 provides a three-step model: have a personal encounter with Jesus, introduce others to Him, and watch them believe too. Christians must identify specific people in their lives who need Jesus, pray for them consistently, and boldly share their faith despite fears or past mistakes.

A Life More Than Appearance

June 21, 2026

It is easy to look the part of a faithful Christian without actually living like one. In Mark 11:12-25, Jesus acts as prophet, priest, and king to expose the difference between a life that merely appears godly and one that is genuinely rooted in faith. The cursing of the fig tree and the cleansing of the temple are not isolated events. They are a unified warning against performative religion and a call to genuine, fruit-bearing faith. A fruitless life is not something to entertain for a season. It leads to death, not life. The answer is not to try harder but to trust more deeply in Jesus, who is the true source of all spiritual fruit. A powerful faith expresses itself in a life of prayer and forgiveness. Because we have been forgiven through Christ, we have both the calling and the power to forgive others.

Let Your Lamp Shine Bright

June 28, 2026

Jesus is the light of the world, and He calls every follower to carry that light into the darkness around them. In Matthew 5:14-16, He makes it clear that a light is meant to be placed on a lampstand, not hidden under a basket. Too many believers keep their faith tucked away, visible only on Sunday mornings and invisible everywhere else. The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 adds urgency to this call, reminding us to stay prepared, keep our lamps full, and trim away anything that dims our witness. Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, we are meant to reflect the light of Jesus Christ into the world around us. That light shines through good works, godly character, personal testimony, and the bold sharing of the gospel. The responsibility to share falls on those who already carry the light, because people cannot believe in what they have never heard. Keep your lamp trimmed, keep it full, and let it shine.
