Jesus: Doing the Father’s Will

September 7, 2025

Jesus Christ provides the perfect example of doing God's will. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus repeatedly emphasized that His purpose was to fulfill the Father's will, not His own. His selflessness, complete obedience even unto death on a cross, and unwavering commitment to God's plan of salvation demonstrate what it means to truly surrender to God. We are called to have this same mindset—being selfless, obedient, and committed to fulfilling God's will in our lives. By remembering Christ's sacrifice daily, we can be motivated to die to self, live for Jesus, and intentionally seek and follow God's will through prayer and Scripture.

Faith is deeply connected to our perspective - how we view our circumstances, challenges, and God Himself. The story of David and Goliath illustrates this perfectly: while others saw an undefeatable giant, David saw an opportunity for God to demonstrate His power. To strengthen our faith, we need to intentionally change our perspective through reading God's Word daily and remembering His past faithfulness in our lives. When we practice gratitude and view our challenges through God's eyes rather than our own limitations, we realize that no matter how big our giants are, God is bigger.

Christian: Doing the Father’s Will

Jesus clearly defines his true family as those who do God's will, not merely biological relatives. This profound statement came when his own family thought he was acting irrationally due to his intense ministry. Doing the Father's will involves seven key practices: denying yourself to follow Jesus, believing in Him completely, obeying God's commands, drawing near to God through spiritual disciplines, worshiping authentically, witnessing to others about Christ, and making disciples. Though Jesus' biological family initially doubted him, many eventually became faithful followers by embracing these same principles of obedience.
